8 PRESIDENTIABLES INVITED TO FVR-RPDEV FORUM

The Ramos Peace and Development Foundation (RPDEV), a non-stock, non-profit, non-political foundation of which FVR is the Chairman, and the RFO Center for Public Finance and Regional Economic Cooperation, chaired by former Finance Secretary Bobby de Ocampo, announced that they have invited the eight leading "presidentiables" as presentors in its 10th FVR-RPDEV Lecture on July 16, 2009, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza, Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City.

The 10th FVR-RPDEV Lecture, entitled : "Six-Year Socio-Economic-Peace Program", aims to bring together personalities whom people perceive as potential leaders of the country and hear their views and perspectives on the socio-economic development and prospects for enduring peace for our country.  The invitees were those cited in surveys conducted within the last 6 months, particularly on the open-ended question : "Whom Would Filipinos Like To Become the Next Philippine President" -- posed in non-commissioned surveys by SWS and Pulse Asia --- namely : Vice-President Noli de Castro, Senators Manuel Villar, Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero, Richard Gordon, Panfilo Lacson, and Mar Roxas, and MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando.

Several times each year, RPDEV organizes, in cooperation with other institutions, public lectures intended to raise the awareness of our people and expand their knowledge and understanding of important public issues, as well as to encourage them to engage in open exchanges on current problems re the economy, governance, education, culture, security, and the environment.

Over the past 10 years, RPDEV has organized more than 30 lectures in Metro Manila as well key cities in Visayas and Mindanao in partnership with such institutions as : Hanns Seidel Foundation; EU Commission in the Philippines; AIM Policy Center; Yuchengco Center; and SGV Foundation.  Thru its highly successful Public Lecture Series Program, RPDEV has reached thousands of people from all sectors and all walks of life throughout the country.

The July 16, 2009 event anticipates to draw some one thousand attendees from the business sector, academe, think tanks, students, government and the diplomatic corps, with the youth, a powerful voting block, being given priority as usual in audience participation.  A press conference with the presentors, which will be moderated by media personality Atty.
