RPDEV Launches "Responsible Citizenship, Responsible Governance"

RPDEV, in cooperation with, the SGV Foundation launched "Responsible Citizenship, Responsible Governance," the 11th volume of the collection of Former President Fidel V. Ramos' speeches on September 6th, 2007.  The book covers issues such as terrorism, endemic diseases, environmental abuse, and mass poverty - all of which are major challenges to most countries, against which Governments and civil society face the urgent need for collective action.  It also discusses globalization and how it calls for certain "safety net" measures to be taken in order that ordinary people can enjoy its benefits.

"Responsible Citizenship, Responsible Governance" submits that we can no longer continue being focused exclusively on ourselves, our families, and our private interests but have to reach out to those in need.  In facing these challenges, nations and NGOs must cooperate closely with each other and among themselves.

What must a responsible citizen do?   How must the Philippines best deal with the situation?   Can we as leaders and concerned Filipinos be caring, sharing and daring -- daring to take concerted action for the common good???  These are just some of the questions this book of speeches hopes to answer.

The book is available at Powerbooks in Greenbelt 4, Makati City.
